PyDataTT Meetup #7: Is T&T ready to reopen? What does the data say?

On July 20th 2021, Derick Cornwall,  Data Scientist at Ubilytics,  will be discussing T&T's current plans to reopen the economy and will be exploring if the data supports these plans. Have you been pondering on this lately? Join our discussion!

DescriptionTrinidad and Tobago is currently in the midst of its second wave of COVID-19 cases, and the most restrictive set of public health interventions since the start of the global pandemic. And while the number of new cases and deaths are seemingly on the decline, the socio-economic burden on the population continues to rise. This has resulted in tremendous pressure on the government to lift the restrictions and reopen the economy. But are we ready to reopen and can we prevent a third, potentially deadlier, wave from happening?  In this talk we will examine the origin and progression of this second COVID-19 wave using a variety of additional datasets and metrics, beyond the official data presented by the Ministry of Health, and identify potential gaps in the current plans to reopen the economy.
