Description: Shipping is one of the major backbones of our connected global economy today. The Automatic identification system (AIS) is a maritime domain messaging system meant to increase the safety of sea traffic. However, this rich movement data provides a unique opportunity from a spatio-analytic perspective to assess shipping trends. We briefly assess a portion of the current python landscape for analyzing AIS data.
